Well solids characterisation and control

The well testing environment can still hold many uncertainties even with the advances made over the last few decades. Solids production can be expected but is very difficult to control and characterise once flow has been established on a new well. Traditional sand filtration sampling doesn't always fully represent what is being produced, especially when foaming and emulsions clog up the filters. On gas and condensate wells, sand sampling by conventional filtration is definitely not recommended.

Requirement

Well testing therefore requires formation solids management and solids characterisation to establish optimum flow rates for safe production operations.

Cormon have developed unique measurement tools and equipment supported by specialist application services to measure, characterise and control well solids production.

The testing and analysis service provides rate profiles of solids/flow and solids/erosion ratios, and the correlation between solids/erosion/corrosion.

Our aim is to deliver an independent and impartial professional service with particular emphasis on cost benefit, added value and quality.

Application

This added value service is applied to the study of produced solids with respect to mass rate, erosion and flow and the development of suitable empirical control algorithms for the producing well.
