Jerry Monk
It is with great sadness that we record the death of our former colleague Jerry Monk. Tragically, he, his wife and his daughter were killed in a road accident in South Africa this week.
Jerry was a respected professional and a popular team member here for many years and we extend our most sincere sympathy to his surviving daughter Freya and his other family.

Cormon has celebrated its 20th birthday with a buffet lunch reception at the Lancing HQ. The lunch was attended by many of Cormon's long standing suppliers and retirees. The milestone was marked by the unveiling of a time-line photo collage produced by local photographer Jason Keffert marking the main events in the firm's history. Certificates of appreciation and gifts were presented to staff with more than 15 years service, including two 'originals' Brenda Lambert and Brenda Short.
BP Flow Assurance Spool Pilot Project
Cormon have commenced work on a project with BP Exploration Production Technology Group to install the first of its new Flow Assurance Spools at a UK onshore oilfield. The spool, incorporating enhanced CEION RPCM™ technology, will use additional techniques and measure key process parameters to provide a comprehensive, real-time view of operating conditions and process events. The information will allow remote users to actively manage the flowing pipeline for optimum performance and asset life. The development has been designed as the forerunner of a new generation of devices suitable for deepwater, HT/HP applications such as the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa.
Subsea Probe Qualification extended
Cormon has delivered a HP/HT Subsea Corrosion Probe for Shell Exploration & Production's Howe Project, qualified for -70°C operation. The probe also incorporates a new angle head element design.
Snovhit Project Progresses
Cormon's contribution to Statoil's Snovhit project continues to move ahead with delivery of equipment for the onshore LNG plant and the qualification of the subsea electronics pods for the two subsea RPCM™ spools. The 180° and 15 kpsi pod system has also completed qualification testing with ABB Offshore Systems' long range modem equipment.
Offshore Australia Success
Cormon's office in Perth, Western Australia has been successful with several important projects recently including systems for Woodside (Transfield Worley) and Apache, including CEION technology and RPCM™.
NACE Papers underline success of CEION erosion monitoring systems.
Two BP based teams published papers at NACE New Orleans this year giving results from work with CEION erosion monitors. Studies of Inhibition, and Monitoring of Metal Loss in Gas Systems Containing Solids, NACE Paper 04362 and A Comparison of Monitoring Techniques for Improved Erosion Control, NACE Paper 04355 give the results of independent research into the available technology.
